Enjoy this week’s events at the Knoxville Visitor Center

The Knoxville Visitor Center will host "Customer Appreciation Day" on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Customers will receive a free drink (fountain drink, tea or coffee) with the purchase of any snack at the center's café, (a pastry, candy or other snack item).


Additionally, the Knoxville Visitor Center will host its First Friday celebration on Friday, October 3, beginning at 6 p.m.  The event will include an art show and print signing with renowned artist Joel Anderson, entertainment from Trisha Gene Brady and Friends and a "coffee cupping" (a free sampling of all café coffee flavors) hosted by Goodson Brothers Coffee.


Joel Anderson is renowned for his unique style of poster art inspired from the early 20th century.  His Spirit of Nashville Collection has garnered many awards and received national recognition, and he recently completed a series of poster art inspired by Knoxville, entitled the Art & Soul of Knoxville Collection, which showcases well-known sites throughout the city.  Anderson will sign prints for the public inside the Visitor Center during First Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Prints will be available for sale in the center during First Friday.


The Visitor Center will also feature entertainment by Knoxville native Trisha Gene Brady and Friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on the WDVX-FM stage during First Friday.  Local gourmet coffee brewer Goodson Brothers will host a free "coffee cupping" during the performance.


The Knoxville Visitor Center is located on the corner of Gay Street and Summit Hill Avenue in downtown Knoxville.  The center houses a free weekday, noontime concert with the WDVX-FM Blue Plate Special, and provides catering from Calhoun's Restaurant for purchase.  Additionally, the building boasts the Café Gourmet Coffee Bar, carrying Goodson Brothers gourmet coffee and the Uniquely Knoxville gift shop. The visitor center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
