Festival on the Fourth

How do fireworks, fireworks and more fireworks sound to help you celebrate a perfect Summer?

If this sounds like your kind of vacation, then Knoxville is the perfect place to be for Summer in 2010!

The City of Knoxville’s Festival on the Fourth extravaganza celebrates the birth of our nation with food, live entertainment, fun and fireworks. The festival will take place on July 4 in downtown Knoxville’s World’s Fair Park, and will offer live music from a variety of performers, including traditional Appalachian music and patriotic classics from the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Numerous free activities and crafts are also available for children, plus vendors offering a variety of tasty food choices. Then, fireworks will light up the light at approximately 9:30 p.m. and end this celebration of our nation’s birth with a bang! But the fireworks don’t stop there! Enjoy the largest Labor Day weekend fireworks display in the nation during the 2010 Chrysler Jeep Boomsday Festival. The Boomsday Festival, set to take place Sunday, Sept. 5, features amusement games, children’s activities, food, beverages, tons of vendors and live music. Then, at 9:30 p.m., enjoy the jaw-dropping fireworks show that has become a Knoxville favorite and nationally-recognized event. More than 400,000 are expected to head to downtown Knoxville to celebrate this amazing fireworks show – so be sure to arrive early to get a good seat! But, wait; there’s more! A charming experience awaits you in Knoxville’s downtown area, which has quickly become the central hub for entertainment, shopping, nightlife and restaurants and it’s the perfect place to park the car and explore the Market Square District and Gay Street. Both areas are full of unique shops and museums, restaurants and nightlife such as the East Tennessee History Center, Bijou Theatre and World Grotto. The open, fun and relaxed atmosphere of downtown Knoxville is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

We encourage you to discover all that Knoxville has for you to enjoy by visiting the Knoxville Visitor Center, located at 301 South Gay Street in the heart of downtown (if you come at noon on the weekdays, you’ll get the experience the famous WDVX Blue Plate Special) and don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Knoxville Visitor & Resource Guide!
