Three KTSC staff members awarded CTTP certification at the Tennessee Governor's Conference

Alice Fleenor, Susan Ford and Erin Freeman were awarded the designation as Certified Tennessee Tourism Professionals (CTTP) by Governor Phil Bredesen during a luncheon on Sept. 18 at the annual Tennessee Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

The CTTP program is sponsored by the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable (TTR) and was developed and is administered in partnership with the University of Tennessee Tourism Institute. The CTTP designation is recognized as a symbol of excellence and leadership within Tennessee’s tourism and hospitality industries.

To receive the CTTP designation, candidates must have a minimum of three years work experience in the tourism/hospitality field and exhibit excellence in three areas: Tourism/Destination Leadership, Tourism/Destination Marketing, and Tourism/Travel Industry Research.

CTTP’s Class of 2009 is made up of 22 professionals representing various hospitality and tourism organizations across the state. The CTTP program was led by John Whisenant (TTR Executive Director) and Dr. Steve Morse (UT Tourism Institute Director).

Fleenor serves as the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation’s (KTSC) Director of Visitor Services. Ford is the KTSC’s Director of Event Services and Freeman is the KTSC’s Director of Communications.

Since the CTTP program’s inception in 1998, approximately 125 Tennessee tourism professionals have been awarded this prestigious designation.
