All About Gotta Know Knoxville

The "Gotta Know Knoxville" program was kicked off on October 24, 2007. Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation started the campaign with the goal of educating local tourism partners on what Knoxville has to offer its visitors. Today KTSC is in the process of developing an off-site version of the program to cater to participants needs.

The original on-site "Gotta Know Knoxville" is a program in which hotel, restaurant and local attraction employees spend one afternoon (approximately four hours) learning about attractions, venues and retail outlets in the Knoxville area. Attendees spend one hour watching a presentation, one hour participating in a walking tour, and another two hours partaking in a driving tour. This program is presented each month to a maximum of 20 participants.

The off-site program will essentially be the same information just in a different form. The details are still being worked out, but the two-hour program will be presented quarterly.

In addition to touring and learning about Knoxville's many tourist opportunities, " Gotta Know Knoxville" attendees, of both on-site and off-site programs, receive a resource guide, full of helpful information about the area. An "Ambassador Pass" is also distributed to attendees, allowing one-time access to attractions that were not on the original four-hour tour. The "Ambassador Pass" allows access to attractions such as the Star of Knoxville Riverboat, James White's Fort and the Knoxville Museum of Art, among others.
